The Finnish Literature Society carries out and supports multidisciplinary research projects on Finnish culture, and especially folklore studies, literature and the Finnish language.
Several SKS research projects are being undertaken using the Society’s own archive materials, and some of the projects have involved refining the extensive archive material for use by researchers. The long-term maintenance of the research infrastructure is the most important task of the Society’s research environment.
Key research themes include:
- interaction between the oral and literary cultures
- research into old folklore and the culture of singing
- research on oral history
- scholarly editions of literature
- cultural diversity.
